Truffle hunting in the morning and wine tasting in the afternoon - the perfect day!
In the morning we join local truffle hunting expert Sebastien and his dog Falco and go in search of the famous Perigord Black Truffle. You'll learn about the different types of truffles, techniques of truffle hunting and enjoy a fabulous truffle tasting.
We then move to Bergerac for lunch at La Tour des Vents, a Michelin starred restaurant in the heart of the Monbazillac vineyards with exceptional views.
After lunch we visit two vineyards where you'll experience everything from the luminous Bergerac Sec to creamy Monbazillac via Pécharmant, a full bodied red.
Our tours run Wednesday to Saturday from 10.00 - 18.00 and can accommodate groups of up to six people. Max will collect you from your accommodation and throughout the day he will be your translator sharing his local knowledge about Bergerac wines, the different terroirs and the rich history of the vines.
The Perigord black truffle season runs from December through February. Outside of this period, you can still experience all the elements of our truffle and wine day, including visiting the truffière and the truffle tasting. However, it is not possible to find a fresh truffle. That's when the ingenuity of our local truffle farmer comes into play. Earlier in the day he will have buried a black truffle somewhere on his land and, just as with a fresh truffle, you and his dog will search out and find it.
Price for up to 6 people is €260, excluding lunch (c.€45 pp) and truffle degustation costs (€20 pp). There is also a small additional cost for pick-up outside of a 10km radius of Tremolat.
He has more than 25 years' experience in Relais & Châteaux and Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe and the Far-East. Thanks to his travelling he is multi-lingual in 5 languages and has a passion for food and wine.
"I've always been surrounded by wine - I grew up on a vineyard in Piedmont, North-West Italy and now live in the heart of the Dordogne surrounded by Bergerac wines. I've had the opportunity to taste and visit some of the best, and also lesser known vineyards of these regions. As well as living in and around vineyards, I've worked in the food and wine industry for over 25 years and passed a sommelier course in Italy. In 2016, I changed my profession and no longer work in restaurants giving me more time to share my wine passion through Duck & Truffle".
